So, for my creative writing class, we were told to write a short story.... I'm posting an excerpt from mine, and would love some feed back/constructive critizism =) Please and thank you!!
Her:
He stared at her; she had to repress a shudder. She would never get accustomed to the shear intensity behind those green eyes. They almost seemed too deep and rich of a color for his pale face, but they were soft. Softer then they had been before. She couldn't look away - blue locked with green. For those moments, nothing else mattered; there was no outside world, no pain in her chest, no fear creeping up from behind... just them. Just the feeling of complete and utter wholeness.
But he had to draw back, suddenly, in a swift, graceful motion. It was her... the reason he was so drawn to her. Not because of her grief... not because of the energy. It was his Juniper. Why did he not see it until now? A strange feeling arose within him... something he hadn't felt in such a long time, his love; his life had come back to him. Finally he could stop wondering. Finally he could smile again. Emily really would save him... more then she'd ever know. Her blue eyes were on him, carefully looking, trying to piece together the rush of expressions and emotions that had just rushed past across his face, in a fluid stream. She was his Juniper...
"Have you ever felt..." He started, his soft voice washing over her body like a velvet cape. "That you've met someone before?"
Emily nodded, trying to follow his unexpected train of thoughts. He seemed to ponder on that statement for a moment, as if gathering more words to better explain his question. His eyes seemed so distant, so deep within themselves that Emily began to wonder what the meaning of this really was. He hadn't really told her anything about him... how he had become this way, or his mortal life before it... But somehow the promise of that knowledge was almost unbearable to her at this moment. She wanted to know him. Know him as well as he knew her.
"Here." He said, breaking her thoughts. He was holding his hand up, palm facing her, as if he had placed it against an invisible wall between them. Emily stared at his pale hand for a moment. He had made it a point not to touch her, up until this moment. His emerald eyes pleaded with her. How could she refuse that? With a shaking hand, she held her breath, raising it slowly towards Walter's. She tried not to look him in the eyes, but they betrayed her. The hue of evergreen tenderness welcomed her, beckoned her in. Her fingers trembled, finally making hers meet Walter's pale hand. A surge of ice traced through her palm, tingling with such a heart stopping passion, that for a moment, Emily forgot completely how to breathe.
It was the sensation that followed, that bewildered her more. A series of thoughts flooded her mind. Thoughts, images, dreams... memories, that weren't her own. Each of them had the same woman trapped within them though. She was beautiful; her long auburn locks fell delicately around her paled skin that seemed to shimmer all on its own. Her slender features were so smooth and so delicate; it was like she had been made of stone... a carved statue of pure beauty. It was her eyes, though, that caught Emily's attention the most. Vivid blue eyes flashed, beneath thick lashes. She knew those eyes. She stared at them every morning, criticizing the face that held them in the mirror. How could this be possible? Emily supposed she would have become more worried, more alert of Walter... and what he really was, if all of these feelings of such familiarity hadn't washed over her. That woman, whoever she was, loved him...
Emily withdrew her hand, unsure of what to think, what to say. Was he trying to lure her into a false sense of security before he killed her, or were those genuine?
"Her name was Juniper..." his voice was soft, full of sorrow and something like regret. Emily's eyes traveled to his face, frowning slightly, and decided in that moment, angels should never be sad. Without thinking, her hand was against his cool pale skin, tracing his jaw line up to his tussled dirty blonde hair. Walter stiffened. He could feel her heartbeat quicken, her pulse beating wildly in her neck, her wrists, her breasts. He could smell her so clearly; a sweet aroma that was driving him crazy as she playing with his hair. He knew that if he had a breath, he'd be holding it.
its a fantastic feeling. I had been so drawn down, and i couldn't really see it anymore. But now... I woke up this morning, and realised that it really is my life, and i can take it in my hands. Not having to let someone to allow me to do something i wanted.
Its been such a long time coming, but i feel good enough.
